Admin, Manager, Member, who can do what

The three roles in Daily Question and what each one is allowed to see and do.

What you'll learn

Daily Question has three roles. This page explains what each one can do.

Admin

Admins run the organization. They can:

  • Create, edit, pause, and end campaigns.
  • Create custom question banks.
  • Invite, edit, and remove members.
  • Manage groups.
  • Send Touchpoints.
  • See the dashboard, Health Scores, and aggregated responses.
  • Manage billing, plans, and the org's settings.

The person who signed up is an Admin by default. Most teams have one or two Admins.

Manager

Managers run the day-to-day. They can:

  • Create, edit, pause, and end campaigns for groups they own.
  • See the dashboard and aggregated responses for their groups.
  • Send Touchpoints to their groups.
  • See the member list (but not edit roles or invite).

Managers can't change billing, can't manage the whole org's settings, and can't see other managers' campaigns unless they're shared.

This is the right role for a team lead who runs their own pulse but doesn't need keys to the whole organization.

Member

Members are the people getting the daily question. They can:

  • Receive and answer daily questions.
  • Receive Touchpoints and read them in their inbox.
  • See and edit their own profile.

Members don't see the dashboard, don't see other people's responses, and don't see Health Scores. The product is designed around their privacy: they're never inside the analytics surface.

Picking the right role

Default to Member unless someone needs to see the dashboard. If they need to run a campaign for a team, make them a Manager. Reserve Admin for the small group running the program.

You can change a role any time. See Change someone's role.

Common questions

  • Can I have more than one Admin? Yes. Most orgs keep at least two so the org isn't blocked if one Admin is unavailable.
  • Can I limit a Manager to a specific group? Yes. Manager permissions are scoped to the groups they own.
  • Are Admins also Members? Admins receive daily questions if you add them to a campaign's audience. Their answers are anonymous like anyone else's.
